Bernadette Dezzara (born February 28th 1948 in Ozone Park Queens New York) is an acclaimed American actor, singer, and writer of children's stories. In her career, which spans more than five decades, she has appeared in musical theatre film and on television, and has also performed as a solo artist and recording. She's one of Broadway's most well-known performers. Nominated to win seven Tony Awards (winning two), she also won eight Drama Desk Awards. Grammy Awards went to four Broadway Cast Albums where she starred. Peters began her stage career when she was a child, and then when she was a teenager, in the 1960s. In the 1970s she began acting in films and TV. For her early stage work as well as for her TV appearances, such as The Carol Burnett Show The Muppet Show and Annie. The 1980s saw her return to the theatre where she became one of the most well-known Broadway performers over the following three decades. Her solo albums include six albums and several singles along with album of cast members. She also performs regularly as a solo performer. Peters, who has also continued acting in films as well as on television where she won an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe. She was also nominated for three Emmy Awards.
